Hello, my name is Jason Smith and I am your instructor for this on-line course. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born in Devils Lake, North Dakota, and grew up on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation. I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Education with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry from Valley City State University in December of 1997. Upon completion of my degree, I was employed for one semester at Four Winds Tribal School teaching seventh and eighth grade science, and in the fall of 1998, I became the high school science instructor for Sheyenne Public School. While at Sheyenne I taught grades 7 - 12 science classes, was the assistant girls basketball coach, and the distance track coach along with many other various duties. I became employed at Cankdeska Cikana Community College in the fall of 2000. The classes that I have been teaching are Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Chemistry, and Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry. I am currently working on my Masters degree in wildlife biology through the University of North Dakota. My research involves the study of the population of White-tailed deer in the prairie-coteau region of North Dakota.
Feel free to contact me whenever you feel you need to, my telephone number is (701) 766-1324, and my e-mail address is Jason_Smith@littlehoop.cc.
The next step is to click on the schedule of assignments; this covers all of the assignments that you as a student will have to complete in order to pass this course. You should complete at least one lesson per week and send the completed work to me via e-mail. There is no limit as to how many assignments you can complete during each week, so you can do more than one if you wish to do so. However, due to our attendance policy here at CCCC, one assignment completed per week is mandatory.
Your first actual assignment is to complete the Pre-Test, now when answering the questions, do not use the book or get help from anyone. This is only a Pre-Test and it will not be counted toward your final grade. This test is just a way for me to evaluate what you know about biology before you actually take the course. At the end of the course you will take a Post-Test, this is the same as the Pre-Test and will help me determine what you have learned at the completion of this course. From this point on all you have to do is follow the schedule of assignments and you should not have any problems. If you do run into some difficulties, feel free to contact me right away.
