Talent Search
The Talent Search program operates 12 months a year and is located at Cankdeska Cikana Community College and funded through the United States Department of Education. The purpose of Talent Search is to provide assistance to people having academic potential,but lacking adequate information or school preparation, to enter, continue, or resume programs of secondary and post-secondary education. This early intervention program assists students from families with low income or are potenial first generation college student to better understand their educational opportuniites and options.
Services Available
- Finaincial Aid - Assitance to studnets insecuring the most appropriate financial resources available, through individual and group advising. Assistance available to families in completion of Financial Aid Form.
- Admissions - Assistance to students in securing information and applications to post-secondary institutions of thier choice. Campus tours availabvle on request.
- Career Exploration - Exploration of job availability, interview skills, job applications, resume writing, hiring trends, experience and training needed for career choices.
- Other Services - Academic advising, tutoring and study skills, personal advising. Available twelve months a year and to families for consultation.
Population Served
Students whose parents do not have a 4-year college degree.- Students 11-27 years of age, whom have not graduated from high school
- Students from low income families
- Students from rural and culturally isolated areas
- Studetns in need of career guidance and/or advising
- Students with physical handicaps
- Students whom have discontinued the education process and would like to resume their educaiton
- Veterans
- Target Schools - Four Winds Middle School, Four Winds High School, Warwich Middle School, Warwick High School, Devils Lake Middle School, and Devils Lake High School
